Mochniuk, Peter
August 11, 1963 – December 20, 2015
Peter Mochniuk of Wildwood passed away suddenly, at his farm, at the age of 52 years. He will be sadly missed by his mother Leda Mochniuk, Wife Helene, children Frazier and Jazlynn, Brother John and Lorna, niece Breanna, nephew Brandon.
Peter was born into this world on August 11, 1963 to Fred and Leda Mochniuk as Wayne Peter Mochniuk. Most of you know Peter, as Peter, however you may not know that Wayne is his first name but grandma Dubina could not pronounce Wayne so it was Peter from the beginning.
Peter was Fred and Leda's second son as 3 1/2 year old John Fredric Mochniuk was awaiting his arrival.
Peter grew up on the farm. Peter lived his whole life on the same quarter section of land. Peter grew up without all the modern conveniences that we have in today's world. He did not have running water in the household, no natural gas to heat it, no electricity, and no telephone during his early childhood years.
Despite not having modern conveniences Peter was blessed to be surrounded by loving parents, family, friends and neighbours.
Once Peter became an adult, he worked on the drilling rigs in the early eighties. It is then he bought his first truck, the red Kenworth which was his favorite to this day of his fleet of six. He started out hauling hay around the Edson area. Here he met his wife Helene, and they were married April 6, 2002 in Edson Alberta. P and H Contracting Limited was the start of a successful business. Peter then hauled equipment, lumber, cattle, grain. Peter also was lucky enough to do such jobs as building the Villeneuve air strip, This last summer he spent improving the Yellowhead highway from Hinton to Wildwood. But his favorite was the oilfield, building roads and leases.
On November 3, 2002 Peter and Helen welcomed a son, Frazier. Four years later their family was complete after the addition of a daughter, Jazlynn, who was born on November 9, 2006. Peter loved his family.
Frazier is following in the path of his father. Frazier learned how to do outside chores with Peter at an early age. Frazier is always by his dad's side on the farm.
Peter enjoyed quading and snowmobiling with his children quite often pulling behind a toboggan or whatever Frazier could hook up behind. On Peters last trip Frazier went with him to picked up a new helmet for this playtime.
Jazlynn is aspiring to becoming a veterinarian. Peter encouraged dreams, just the other day saying "Jazlynn, you can be whatever you want to be".
Peter touched many lives as he was very social and well liked. He always has a smile on his face and he was eager to say hello and strike up a conversation.
Peter would want us to remember our friends and family, often life is short and we do not know what tomorrow holds.
Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 1:00 at the Wildwood Community Hall. Pastor George Stone officiating with intermit at the Russian Orthodox Cemetery.
