Violet May Saxer nee Croft
March 31,1934- November 2, 2024
“How blessed were we, to be loved by thee”
With heavy hearts and great love we say good-bye to Violet May Saxer nee Croft who passed peacefully on Nov. 2, 2024 in Evansburg, Alberta.
Violet was born in Beverly, Alberta on March 31,1934. When she was five her family moved to a farm by the Lobstick River. She spent her youth swimming and playing games with her siblings who she adored. Violet attended Empyrean and Wildwood School and excelled in her studies. After completing her schooling, she worked in Edmonton and travelled to the US to visit family.
Violet married Bill Saxer in 1954. They settled on a farm north of Wildwood and raised their family.
Violet was both hardworking and talented. She loved to sing as she went about her day. A skilled seamstress, needle-crafter, and baker Violet made our house a home. She loved to sketch, play her guitar, and write songs and poetry. An avid reader she also enjoyed playing scrabble and cards. Violet was rarely idle and always kind.
Her greatest passion was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who had endless patience and loved unconditionally. She will live on through our cherished memories.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years; Willie (Bill) Saxer, her children; Carol(Gordon) Ostertag, Andrew (Patricia) Saxer, Elaine (Darcy) Gillies and Mark Saxer, her Grandchildren; Michelle (Tim) Letwin nee Ostertag, Michael Ostertag, Ashley (Kazz) Leer nee Saxer, Amber Saxer, Wesley Saxer, and Chloe Gillies, her Great Grandchildren; Elise Letwin, and Ryder and Reeves Leer, her siblings; Helen Volk, Nora Gretz and Norman Croft and numerous other family members.
Violet was predeceased by her parents; Auralie and Albert Croft, sisters; Annie Lypkie and Doris Ueland and brothers; David, Albert, and Walter Croft.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Murphy for providing excellent medical care and to the compassionate staff at the Good Samaritan for always treating our beloved Violet with kindness and respect.
In accordance with her wishes, there will not be a service.
