STEVE RICHARD OLSEN

September 10, 1947 – August 15, 2025

With broken hearts we share that after a short and unexpected struggle with cancer, surrounded by his family, Steve passed away in his home on his Darwell acreage he built and loved for 45 years.  Steve was born in Innisfail, AB to Max and Emma Olsen, the middle son of 7 children.  Steve leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Catherine, his son Trevor (Tracy), daughter Teresa (Tony), grandchildren: Carmen (Noah), Kyshia, Sterling, Hannah, and Emma; and many dear family, friends and colleagues.  Steve was predeceased by his parents, siblings (Norman, Shirley, Glenn, Harvey, Debbie and Diane), his mother-in-law Helen, his father-in-law Morris and his brother-in-law Cliff.

Steve enjoyed a quiet, private life, the natural setting of his home, the wilderness, classic country music, being on his CAT and tinkering in his shop.  If Steve couldn’t fix it, nobody could fix it!  He believed in the value of a handshake, hard work and giving to others.  If Steve was your friend, you had a friend forever, for always, and under any circumstances.

Special thanks to Dr. Fuchs for many years, the staff & Doctors at Stony Plain Hospital Emergency, Onoway Home Care staff, and the Cross Cancer Institute. The family is grateful for all the love and support of family, friends and the community. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Darwell Centennial Hall, Darwell, AB.
