Robert Tory

On Thursday, September 22, 2022 Robert Gilmour Tory, aged 84, passed away at the Good Samaritan Continuing Care Center (Evansburg, AB), 6 months after being diagnosed with cancer.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory: his supportive and loving sister, Gladys Speirs of Halifax, Nova Scotia; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends in the Evansburg area.  

His friendship with his cousin Lorraine Rutledge continued throughout his adult life.  Both Gladys and Lorraine were ever only a phone call away. 

 He is predeceased by his father and mother, Sterling and Vesta Tory; brother, George Tory and his wife Ada; sister, Aileen and her husband Jim Goldsmith; and brother-in-law Walter Speirs. 

Wainwright has always been special to the Tory family. Tory Heights and the ball diamonds north of the highway are on property formerly home to the Sterling Tory family.  Tory Heights was so named in recognition of the role the Tory family played in the early days of the town of Wainwright.

Although no formal services will be held, interment will take place at the Wainwright Cemetery.
