It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Les Burke from The Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton AB., at the age of 66.
Leslie is survived by his brothers Brian Burke (Lila) of Entwistle AB., James Burke (Lynn) of Spruce Grove AB., sister Lynette Nienaber (Lorne) of Evansburg AB. Leslie was predeceased by his father and mother Angus and Adelaide Burke, twin sister Lloy Semenyna (Richard), brother Doug Burke, nephews Scott Burke and Cory Burke.
Les was born in Stettler AB., and lived in, Drayton Valley, Rocky Rapids and Entwistle before setting down roots in Evansburg, after high school.
Les had the freedom to do as he pleased and enjoyed cruising on his Harley, downhill skiing, dirt biking, water skiing, playing hockey and of course golf. Les loved spending time with children as they were curious and willing to learn. He taught all that was willing to ski, play hockey, golf, and swim. His love of books and learning gave him an opinion on everything!
To quote John Lennon’s song, Imagine, “no hell below us, above us only sky.” Les made his heaven on earth through his friendships, generosity, and willingness to forgive. He rests with his creator until we meet again.
The family would like to thank Dr. Norris, Resident Dr. Odenback and the RT nurses including Jessica, Sean, and Crystal for their dedication, knowledge. skill and support. Thank you also to the Evansburg Legion Lodge and residents for making their place a home.
A short graveside service will be held at the Wildwood Cemetery at 2:00pm Saturday December 11th, 2021.
A celebration of life TBA.
