With extremely heavy hearts, John's loving family announces the passing of John Francis Reynolds of Darwell, Alberta on February 8, 2025. He died where he was the happiest – at home.
John loved a simple, yet adventurous life, enjoyed time in the great outdoors or in his garden. He has left behind a legacy of love for the land and farm life. He was an amazing educator. He could draw you into a conversation where you came away richer for the experience. Dad was as 'strong as nails' both in spirit and body. Grandpa John always saw the best in people and encouraged them to be their best selves. Papa had a gift for storytelling, captivating those around him with tales full of wisdom and humor. His abundant curiosity about the natural world was infectious.
John was born September 9, 1940 in Carshalton, England to Lionel and Evelyn Reynolds. John is survived by his kindred spirit of 30 years, Helen, his sister Mary and his children, Susan (Craig), Fiona (Joe), Paula and Helen's children Bobby Jean (Justin), Anthony (Ashley) and Mitchell. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Cole (Jordan), Brandon, Ty, Morgan, Dylan, Carson, Eric, Max, Heidi, Rachel, Nash, Seth, Anna and Madelaine and many cherished friends & extended family. He was predeceased by an infant brother, as well as his wife and teaching partner for many years, Kathy.
A celebration of life, a life well lived, will be held on February 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Darwell Centennial Hall. The family invites all who attend to join them for fellowship and refreshments after the service. The service will be recorded and made available to those from afar.
John’s legacy of kindness and appreciation for life will live on in the hearts of those he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation toward the annual Grade 7 Darwell School Camp Nakamun Trip, as an outdoor classroom was his wish for all students.
