Hope Olga Blahun
It is with great sadness and love that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Hope Olga Blahun, on May 30, 2026 at the age of 89 years after a battle with cancer. Hope will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her five children, Patricia Russell (Alan), Victoria Patten (Darcy), Greg (Jackie), Anna, and David (Jennifer); sixteen grandchildren, Kim Benesch (Brad), Michelle Willett (Steven Livingston), Brandy Bundt (Jeff), Clayton Russell (Lyndsay), Candice Russell (Dustin Wilkie), Meagan Lockhurst (Matt), Jayson Russell (Linnea), Darren, Mark (Barb), Scott (Samantha), Jordon (Vicky), Shawn (Paige), Nadia, Monica, Dalton, Lillian; numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; sister Ann Blahun; sisters-in-law Sylvia Blahun, Anne Wahlund (Bob) and Ann Werenka; brothers-in-law William Blahun (Kerri) and Mike Yakiwczuk (Thyra). She was predeceased by her husband, Joe, her parents John and Agrepena Werenka; daughter Susanne Slemko; two infant great-grandchildren; brothers Orest and Russell; sisters Vera, Tillie, Florence and Love; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
When she wasn't working alongside her husband farming, Hope loved gardening, picking berries and wild mushrooms, fishing, going on trips in their motorhome, spending evenings playing cards, attending jamborees and visiting with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, Baba, G-Baba, Great-Great-Baba and a wonderful friend to so many. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral to take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Interment at the St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Rochfort Bridge (56117 Range Road 80); funeral service at 12:30 PM followed by a ceremony at the Parkcourt Hall, Evansburg (7220 Twp Rd 550) at 2:00 PM.
