Elton McCracken Obituary

McCracken, Elton Robert George

Nov.9, 1948 – Apr.2, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elton. Left to mourn are his partner, Debra Jardine, her daughters Tiffany and Nicole and grand daughters Lexi and Summer, ex-wife Bev McCracken, sisters Linda (Gilbert), Patricia, and brothers Dan (Cindy), Fred (Tennie), Colin (Sandy) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Bob and Nora, sisters Gail and Mary Jane.

Elton’s wish was to be cremated, arrangements by Town & Country Funeral Services in Evansburg. A celebration of life will be held at the Magnolia Community Hall at a date to be announced in May.

Elton, even with limited formal education could fix or repair most anything, was an accomplished self-taught welder and operated heavy equipment since he was too young to have a driver’s license. In his younger years he enjoyed horse back riding with his siblings and cousins Kip and Grant. He took his sisters to movies and square dancing and was a member of the Army Cadet core in Evansburg. As a child he suffered from motion sickness, thus missed a lot of the family camping trips. In 1967 he, Kip and Grant headed for Expo 67 in Montreal but they only made it to Ontario then decided to head back home.

Elton, out of school started working with his dad, running back hoe, putting up hay and hauling it to Jasper, cutting fence posts, moving houses and before he had a driver’s license operated equipment for Parkland County.

He had his own welding business manufacturing cattle fence panels and loved ornamental iron work. In addition, he had his own gravel truck and worked extensively for his brothers at Entwistle Concrete and Valley Concrete.

Unfortunately, Elton had health issues during the last number of years but enjoyed and lived to be on the farm north of Evansburg with Debra and her daughter and grandchildren.

We would like to thank the staff at the Stony Plain Westview Health Centre Long term care for their excellent care making Elton’s stay as comfortable and as pleasant as possible .
