Eleanor Joan O'Meara

Eleanor "Joan" O'Meara passed away on April 15, 2026, at the age of 80 years at the Westlock Healthcare Centre, Westlock, Alberta

Joan was born January 3, 1946 in Seattle,  Washington USA. After her fathers passing in 1957, she immigrated with her mother and sister from the US to Victoria BC.  where she lived for many years before moving to Edmonton in 1984 and began working for the Federal Government and then eventually transferred to the Provincial Government. Joan finally settled in the Alberta Beach/Onoway area with her husband Jack in 1996 where they lived together on their acerage up until his passing in 2005.

She was pre-deceased by her father Chester Riley Thomas in 1957; her sister Gwyneth Riley Thomas in 1967; her husband John Robert (Jack) O'Meara in 2005; and her mother Eleanor Stuart Thomas in 2010. 

She leaves behind her companion Gerald Kellrone; 2 daughters Theresa (Carl), Cathleen (Gareth); and her step-son Peter; as well as grandchildren Ryan, Derek,  Sarah, Lucas, Kieran, Connor and Emily; and great-grandchildren Dean, Carter, Paxton, Jaxon, Jude, Emmett and Josephine. She is also survived by one brother C. Russell Dow (Pat) of Seattle, Washington, USA; as well as her cousins, nieces and nephews in the US, and her best friend of 73 years Nancy (Ron) McMillin of Vancouver, BC

Memorial Service to be held @2:00pm on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at St Andrew's United Church, 1A Fieldstone Dr, Spruce Grove AB T7X 2Z3.
