Darcey Matalski Obituary

Darcey John Matalski
September 16, 1975 – October 15, 2016

It’s with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Darcey John Matalski on October 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 41 Years.
Left to mourn and cherish his memory is his loving wife Linda Matalski; the light of his life, daughters Tamara and Tia; mother Pam Ayres (Walter); brother Jesse (Melinda); sister Crystal (Jody); nephews Nathan, Justin, Tristan; nieces Hailey and Lynnea and many extended family and friends. Darcey was predeceased by his father John Matalski, his grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Darcey was born in Edmonton, Alberta on September 16, 1975. He was raised in Wildwood, Alberta for the better part of his childhood, this is where he began to acquire the bonds of friendship, that were strong, impressionable and memorable, far too many to count. He met the love of his life and mother of his children when he was 19 years old. Together they started their journey in Wildwood and ventured the next 7 years to Robb, Alberta where he worked as an Operator at Coal Valley. Darcey also worked in Evansburg as an Oilfield Laborer/ Equipment Operator and in Swan Hills as a Laborer on the Kjelland Sawmill. In 2002, Darcey and his family planted their roots in Wildwood where he became an employee at Coal Valley in Robb, AB and migrated to Sun Hill in Wabumum. Darcey loved being outdoors. He liked hunting, fishing, camping and riding his motorbike. Darcey was a dedicated father in teaching his girls everything he knew. He had shown them to be self-sufficient in all situations and by sharing his knowledge he ensured his teachings would last them a lifetime. He was an active citizen (Wildwood unofficial Mayor) reaching out to those in need with a heart so big it’s impossible to count all the souls he touched. Darcey will be deeply missed and always remembered.
A Celebration of Darcey’s Life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wildwood Community Hall for all who would like to share stories and fond memories of Darcey’s journey in life.
